The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk archery teams set their sights on competition Saturday at the Cedar Rapids Prairie bullseye and 3D Tournaments. The Hawks shot a week ago at Mount Vernon. The high school Hawks were sixth of seven teams in the bullseye contest and third of five in 3D. The boys were led by Elijah Statler who was fourth in both bullseye and 3D. For the girls Josee Mueller was fifth in 3D and Kyla Karnes was eighth in bull to lead the way.
For the middle schoolers they were fifth of seven in bull and fourth of five in 3D. Tommy Miller had a big day, claiming the 3D title for the boys and placing a team best third in boys bullseye. Sophia Puttmann led the Golden Hawk girls with a fifth place in bullseye and Ava Miller was seventh in 3D.
In the elementary contest, Noah Coblentz took home the title in boys bullseye and was runner-up in 3D. Lara Brenneman was runner-up girls 3D and third in bullseye.
Joining Mid-Prairie today are Alburnett, Center Point Urbana, Marion, Mount Vernon, Portage, Wisconsin, Solon, Springville, Vinton-Shellsburg and the home Prairie Hawks. Action continues all day Saturday at Cedar Rapids Prairie High School.
