Last week, the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office named their 2022 Reserve Deputy of the Year. The honor went to Reserve Deputy Justin Walker, who has worked with the Sheriff’s Office for three years.

Reserve deputies are volunteers who donate their personal time to help law enforcement agencies. Walker earned the award for totaling over 450 hours of patrol, training, and work at community functions last year. Chief Deputy, Brandon Marquardt, commended Walker on his commitment to the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office. “That equates to quite a few actual forty-hour weeks, so we can’t thank him enough on that,” he said. In addition to his time with the department, Walker also serves on the Wapello Fire and Rescue.

Two different events scheduled for later this year will benefit the reserve deputies in Louisa County, the first being a color run during the Chief Wapello Days in July, and a fundraising golf tournament the first weekend of August.
