Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Louisa County is hosting a women in agriculture series called Annie’s Project. Beginning at the end of the month, those interested have until February 16 to register.

Annie’s project is a national non-profit started 20 years ago to educate and empower women in agriculture. The series includes six courses over six weeks, centered on farm management. Program Director for Agricultural Education with Louisa County Extension, Samantha Jamison, tells KCII what women can expect at the sessions. “The course participants are going to learn ideas and how to make decisions in five key areas: finance, human resources, legal, marketing, and production on the farm. It’s more the planning and the analyzing portion of what it means to run a farm.”

Courses will be held at the Louisa County Fairgrounds Youth Center. They begin on Thursday, February 23, and continue every Thursday in March from 6-9 p.m, with a meal provided at 5:30. Total cost for the six sessions is $75.
