Earlier this month, the Iowa Pork Producers Association announced a new program with hopes of benefiting both county pork producer organizations, as well as local food pantries.
Named “Pork in the Pantry,” the program will reimburse up to $1,000 for each county pork group that buys and delivers pork products to their county food pantries. This can be through one large donation, or several smaller donations during the eligibility timeframe.
Donations must be made to food pantries located within the respective organization’s county. The deadline for donations is Saturday, April 8. Following the donation, a request for reimbursement form must be filled out and submitted by Friday, April 14.
