leg-brief

Community members and local officials gathered on Friday, February 10th, for the first Legislative Briefing in Washington County. With approximately 60 people in attendance. State Representative Heather Hora and State Senator Dawn Driscoll began the event with an update on the projects they are working on and the committees they sit on. After this update, the crowd was able to ask a question or make a remark that would be responded to by the legislators. A variety of topics surfaced at the briefing, but consistent discussion points included adjusting the age of laborers, school choice, school funding, property tax rollback, and gender identity. Not all attendees were able to get their questions answered due to time constraints so adjustments will be made to the next event March 10. After the briefing, attendees were invited to learn more about KCTC and go on a behind-the-scenes tour of their Kalona facility. The location for the March 10 event has not yet been set.
