The Mid-Prairie School Board met in regular session on Monday.

During the public forum, the Mid-Prairie Archery Club spoke with the board on the benefits of the program, and the need for practice space. The independent, non-sponsored group is currently set up in the West-Chester School gym.

Students from the Mid-Prairie Large Group Speech Team were present as part of the Hawk Highlight. The team was celebrated for their performance at the State Competition, including four groups that received a nomination for All-State.

OPN, an architectural firm that was hired by the board at their previous meeting recently had a chance to tour the facilities. Superintendent, Brian Stone explained the future vision for the district. “We’re working on some survey work to basically reach out to the community to gain some understanding. Obviously the bond didn’t pass, and maybe some insight as to why that didn’t pass, and also how we can help people understand better what the steps and the process and the protocol to what we’re wanting to do moving forward [are]. That’s been a really good conversation.”

The meeting ended with a public hearing for the Middle School and East Elementary School additions and renovations. The Mid-Prairie Community School Board’s next meeting will be Monday, February 27 at 6:15 p.m. in the Central Office Community Room.
