The defense team for Willard Noble Chaiden Miller, one of two Fairfield teens being tried for murder, filed a motion last Thursday to obtain a piece of evidence.

In the motion, Christine Branstad, Miller’s attorney, wrote that the particular evidence may be exculpatory. Specific information was not disclosed, as it may reveal strategy for the trial to the prosecution.

A virtual hearing was held on Wednesday between Branstad and District Court Judge Shawn Showers. If granted, the motion subpoena would require a witness to produce the particular evidence to the defense.

In January, Branstad filed a motion for continuance which was denied. Miller’s trial is set to begin on Monday, March 20 in Council Bluffs. Miller and fellow Fairfield teen, Jeremy Goodale are facing murder charges in the 2021 death of Nohema Graber, a teacher at Fairfield High School.
