The Highland School Board met in regular session on Monday.
The board approved a redrawing of the director district boundaries. Superintendent, Ken Crawford, describes the process, which occurs every ten years following the census. “We have district directors, where we have six for Highland and one at large. Each of those director districts have to have somewhat of an even balance of people. So you have to go and have a company re-draw those lines to keep it balanced.”
The instructional coach at the elementary school, Janelle Sulhoff, spoke with the board on the fidelity checks being done in the building. These checkpoints are a way of monitoring student learning and documenting growth.
Action items included approving summer learning programs at the elementary school. A Spanish trip was also approved for 15 students. They will be traveling to Spain in the summer, with teacher Molly Zywiec.
The Highland Community School Board of Education’s next meeting will be on Monday, March 13, at 5 p.m. in the High School Board Room.
