The Keota Eagles will play in a boys’ basketball district championship game after defeating Belle Plaine 68-56 Friday night in the Class 1A District 11 semifinals. Despite trailing by two at the end of the first quarter, Keota used a 23-7 run to take a 33-19 lead into halftime and stayed in front by double digits the rest of the night.
Eagles junior Evan Vittetoe had team highs of 18 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore Bille Kindred posted 13 points, five rebounds and three steals. Junior guard Sawyer Stout added 14 points and three assists to help Keota improve to 21-3. The Eagles will face another 21-win team, Gladbrook Reinback, in tomorrow evening’s District 11 title game.
