At the Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday, the board heard a presentation regarding a solar array at the Orchard Hill Complex from Atwood Energy based out of Coralville. The idea of solar was brought to the board by supervisor Richard Young to help mitigate the energy costs in that area. Supervisor Marcus Fedler discusses the process of getting the information for the report. “We met at the Orchard Hill Complex, located the four meters that are out there, and we got those through Alliant. Dan helped me with that. So that TJ could kind of put together a proposal that was based on our usage out there.” There were two different scenarios presented to the Board about the different systems that they could go with. The scenarios include a stand-alone solar system and a solar system with an energy storage battery. Either system would have a significant cost-saving effect for the county.
