Winter weather made a return visit to southeast Iowa during the middle of this week. A winter weather advisory for Johnson and Iowa Counties was issued for the entire day Wednesday and Thursday to 6 a.m. A wintery mix was seen through the entire listening area early in the day Wednesday, closing some schools and canceling postseason basketball. Ice and freezing rain lingered in the northern part of the listening area while heavier rainfall was seen over the southern portion. Precipitation totals ranged with Washington and Oakland Mills in Henry County each receiving 1″ of rainfall, Fairfield an 1.5″ of rainfall, and Columbus Junction 2″ of rainfall. Mixed precipitation ranged as well with Riverside and Lone Tree each receiving .1″ of ice and freezing rain.
