On Thursday, the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort held a ribbon-cutting celebration to recognize the completion of a year-long remodel to their Event Center.

While the remodel was completed in 2021, General Manager, Damon John, explains the reason behind holding the ceremony over one year later. “As of May of last year, our event center had hosted 5,300 concerts, special events, meetings, tournaments, and conferences. That’s an average of 330 events each year, so as you can imagine, it’s extremely hard to find an open date in this event center.” 

The remodel of the over 12,400 square-foot Event Center included updates to the audio/visual systems, new furnishings and flooring, along with a state-of-the-art chandelier lighting system that adjusts to coordinate with the given event. The $3 million dollar remodel also features the addition of an ADA compliant stage to accommodate future musical performances, comedy shows, and public speaking engagements.

Members of the Washington Chamber of Commerce, Iowa City Area Business Partnership, and Washington County Riverboat Foundation joined casino staff in the celebration Thursday.
