As they prepare for the upcoming outdoor track and field season, a few of the Washington Demons’ top athletes got to stretch their competitive muscles by participating in the annual Winter Iowa Games indoor track meet Saturday in Dubuque. The best individual finish came from senior Elijah Morris. The reigning Class 3A state champion in the 400-meter dash brought home the title in the 17-to-19-year-old male division with a time of 47.62 seconds. Morris also finished second in the 60-meter dash.
Hot on Morris’ tail was junior Alec Ulin, who finished second in the 400. The Demons also got runner-up finishes from seniors Grace Voss in the 800-meter run and Ally Rees in the shotput. Senior Cameron Vongpanya was seventh in the 200 meters, as was Eden Levetzow in the 400. Andrew Rees finished sixth in the 1500-meter run to round out the Washington medalists.
