Eleven Mid-Prairie High School Speech Team members competed at the district contest in Mount Vernon on Saturday. Ten of those Golden Hawks earned a Division 1 rating at the event, and have advanced to the state context next week.

Division 1 recipients for Mid-Prairie include Haydon Bailey in Solo Musical Theatre and Solo Acting, Jacob Carrillo in Solo Acting and Solo Improv, Kenadi Fay in Storytelling and After Dinner Speaking, Harlie Gehling in Poetry and Radio News, Isadora Goode in Original Oratory, Jack Greiner in Solo Musical Theatre and Solo Improv, Logan McClellen in Storytelling, Daniel Rodgers in Reviewing and Poetry, Caroline Schrader in Solo Acting, and Avery Slaubaugh in Solo Musical Theatre. Jillian Clark also received a Division 2 rating in Solo Improv.

Ten Golden Hawks will now perform at the Iowa High School Speech Associations Individual Events Speech Contest on Saturday March 11 at North Scott High School. There they will have the chance to be nominated for the All-State Festival, which is scheduled for Monday, March 27 at the University of Northern Iowa.
