Two University of Iowa Art Share faculty members will perform at the Washington Public Library on Thursday. Since 1991 David Grompper has been Professor of Composition and Director of the Center for New Music at the University of Iowa. In 2002-2003 Gompper was a Fulbright Scholar, teaching, performing, and conducting at the Moscow Conservatory. He received an Academy Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2009, a Fromm Commission in 2013, and a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2020.

 Volkan Orhon is the Professor of Double Bass at the University of Iowa. Orhon was a finalist and prizewinner in the Concert Artists Guild Solo Competition in New York City, and was the co-first place winner of the International Society of Bassists Solo Competition. These musicians will be performing an evening concert at the Washington Public Library beginning at 6:00 pm on Thursday.
