While National FFA Week came to a close last weekend, student-members across southeast Iowa are still showcasing their skills as they prepare for the FFA District Competition on Saturday, March 4.
Seven Washington Demons are participating in Conduct of Meetings: Leadership Development Events. They are Izzy Peterson, Jade Sheetz, Blake Sheetz, Emma Taylor, Jocelyn Carter, Peggy Miller, and Presley Hora.
Columbus leads the way for area schools, with 12 students qualifying for districts. This includes Victoria Howell in Job Interview, Mady Howell in Ag Sales, Drew Totemeier in Creed Speaking, Mason Heck in Chapter Website, Bryce Grimm in Public Speaking, and the team of Cade Storm, Claire Humphreys, Ryan Coil, Kinlee Brown, Emma Salazar, Gabe Totemeier, and Connor Heck in Conduct of Meetings.
WACO’s FFA will be represented by Hailey Harbison, Grace Coble, Chase Waterhouse, Junior Quiroz, Noah Rich, Natalie West, and Rhiannon Horn in the Ag Issues Contest. The Warriors also have Zoey Dennler competing in Extemporaneous Speaking, and Brendan Hudson in Individual Ag Sales.
In the Sigourney Chapter, the Parliamentary Procedure Team includes Mckinley Chittick, Hannah Hanselman, Taylor Rozenboom, Jada Shipley, and Gabi Dehne. Zoey Webb is competing in Job Interview, while Kayla Renner will take part in FFA Creed Speaking.
Highland will see Emma Cole in Public Speaking, Sandra Edwards in Creed Speaking, and Jenna Waters, Katelyn Waters, and Payton Brun in Chapter Program.
Grace Conger and Ava Greiner represent Keota, competing in the Reporter’s Scrapbook Contest. The Eagles also have Hunter Sieren and Jax Weber welding at Iowa Valley High School today.
Also competing at the welding competition are Josiah Beachy and Luke Schrock for Hillcrest Academy.
Mid-Prairie’s Brynn Younge is competing in Public Speaking, while Charlotte Sieren was selected as an alternate for Extemporaneous Speaking.
Winfield-Mount Union has Katie Miller and Quin Smith taking the Greenhand Test, while Kurt Beard will be taking the Discovery Test.
Lone Tree’s sole qualifier this year is Bailey McGrew, competing in Chapter Website.
The FFA Southeast Iowa District competition is set to take place Saturday at Muscatine High School.
