The Washington Harp Players are a group of actors who have utilized their talents to benefit local charities since 1999. In a partnership with the Washington Community Theater, proceeds from their upcoming performances of Clue will go towards programs at Washington, Highland, and Mid-Prairie.

The Harp Players plan to donate all proceeds to Washington Middle School’s Kindness Kloset, Washington High School’s Used to be YOURS, Highland’s Backpack Program and Coat Library, and Mid-Prairie’s Feed the Kids program. All four programs work to provide students with necessities such as clothing, food, and school supplies.

Cindy Peiffer, school nurse at Highland, and organizer of the Backpack Program and Coat Library, expressed gratitude to the Harp Players, and told KCII how she plans to use the donation. “It’s just wonderful. Having those funds allows me to update new boots, or new coats, new snow pants for kids, especially right now when they’re less expensive. I just really appreciate people thinking about the kids at Highland.”

Behavior Interventionist at Mid-Prairie, Matt Freel, gave similar thanks, and commended everyone involved in the production. “This just must be an incredibly dedicated bunch of people. We’re just honored that they thought of us.”

Performances of Clue begin today and tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at the Washington Community Theater. Additional showings are Friday, March 17 and Saturday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m. with a 2:30 matinee on Sunday, March 19. For tickets, visit wctheater.com or call 319-653-5175.
