This past season represented a serious turnaround for WACO Warrior girls’ basketball. Not only did WACO win 18 games and go 14-2 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North, but the Warriors posted a winning record for the first time in eight seasons. In recognition of that success, five of the WACO players that made that season happen have been named All-Super Conference North. That includes Warrior senior Ellah Kissell, one of the state’s leading scorers, who makes the first team for a second straight season. Kissell’s 22 points per game was easily the most in the conference, but she also affected other aspects of the game, averaging almost seven rebounds, three assists and four steals a night.
Grace Coble is the other WACO senior to receive first-team honors after posting nearly 11 points, eight-and-a-half rebounds, two-and-a-half assists and two-and-a-half steals a game. Katie Leichty ends her career with a second-team selection, putting up almost seven points and seven boards per contest. Juniors Emma Wagler and Marie Farmer did the dirty work for the Warriors and earn honorable mentions, combining to average nearly 9.5 points and 8.5 rebounds a game.
