With severe weather awareness week next week, students at Mid-Prairie are doing their part early. Ten Golden Hawks are in Griffin, Georgia this week to help with the tornado cleanup.

Students who made the trip are Lance Schlabaugh, Lucas Phillips, Evan Phillips, Donovan Bailey, Skyler Gingerich, Gavin Warnstaff, Kinzington Miller, Kayla Karnes, Ava Pence, and Marissa Cline.

Multiple tornadoes struck the communities south of Atlanta on January 12, downing trees, damaging buildings, and leaving thousands without power. Griffin sustained some of the worst damage.

Accompanied by Behavior Interventionist at Mid-Prairie, Matt Freel, the students left on Sunday and will return on Friday, March 24.
