A Washington-area softball player is making waves at the collegiate level. Pitcher Cara Linnenkamp has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference’s Player of the Week for Division I softball. During the week of March 13th, Linnekamp was 4-0 in the circle and picked up a save. In just over 19 innings pitched, Linnenkamp allowed only one earned run on 11 hits and four walks. The current college sophomore also racked up 29 strikeouts in her five appearances.
Linnenkamp helped Southeastern Community College in West Burlington pick up seven wins last week and has been a key part of the Blackhawks’ 14-2 start to the new season, posting a minuscule 0.63 earned-run average in 44 innings pitched.
