Following the State Speech Contest at North Scott High School, Lone Tree sophomore, Sami Branson, was awarded a trip to the All-State Festival in Cedar Falls. Branson was one of 12 Lions who performed at state.

Receiving the nomination in the Acting event, Branson performed a piece titled “Crazy”. The dramatic scene centers around a woman who lost two children in a fire. To earn a trip to the All-State Festival, a student must receive a Division 1 rating in their event as well as a nomination from at least two of three judges, something only about 5% of Iowa competitors achieve.

The 2023 Iowa High School Speech Association’s Individual Events All-State Festival will take place on Monday, March 27 at the University of Northern Iowa. For a complete list of nominations, or a schedule of the festival, click here.
