tornado-300x200

Severe Weather Awareness Week kicked off yesterday and continues tomorrow with the statewide tornado drill.

Beginning Wednesday at 10 a.m. KCII will participate live on the air, presenting information about severe weather in Iowa. This includes interviews with Washington County Emergency Management Coordinator, Marissa Reisen, and Weatherology Meteorologist, Michael Karow.

To keep the residents of southeast Iowa informed, KCII will continue the broadcast with information on our Severe Weather Action Team coverage. Listeners can learn what to expect in the event of a tornado warning for Washington County.

Each year in the United States, hundreds of people are killed and thousands are injured as a result of dangerous weather. This week, Iowans are reminded to know what to expect from severe weather, be aware of the hazards, pay attention to warnings and advisories, and have a plan to be safe if/when it does occur.
