The Washington Demons continued an impressive start to the new boys’ soccer season with a 10-0 victory against the Highland Huskies last night in Riverside. Junior Isaac Gentry had two goals in the first 16 minutes to get the Demons off and running, and fellow junior Lane Schrock would find the back of the net twice before halftime, while classmate Brayan Arreola would pull off a first-half hat trick, scoring three of the eight goals Washington posted in the first half.

Junior Joshua Perez added a goal to his two assists in the 63rd minute, set up by senior Brian Fritz, who also scored in the second half. Washington converted nearly half of their 22 shots on goal as part of a 2-0 start to the season. The Demon girls did the same at home last night, getting a goal in each half for a 2-0 defeat of the Columbus Wildcats. While Washington will next face Oskaloosa on Monday, the Highland boys return to action Monday against Sigourney-Keota and the Columbus girls next meet Mount Pleasant.
