Some of the Highland Huskies’ best girls’ track and field athletes led the way when they finished fifth in team scoring at Thursday’s Mepo Meet in Mediapolis. Junior Sarah Burton was a winner in the long jump, posting a top leap of 16-and-a-half feet. Highland senior Jessica Kraus was the runner-up in the discus toss, as was classmate Adalynn Kleopfer in the 100-meter hurdles. Freshman Siena Stanerson added a third-place finish in the 3,000 meters, and both the Huskies’ four-by-100 and four-by-200-meter relay teams garnered bronze medals. The Highland shuttle hurdles team also took third. The Huskies will be right back in Mediapolis for their next meet Tuesday.
