CIVCO is a medical accessories company specializing in ultrasound and other image-guided procedures. Last week, the company announced its plan to move their production facility out of Kalona.
The logistical move will see the relocation of the Kalona facility, as well as CIVCO’s corporate headquarters in Coralville. Both will be combined in a new building located in the Iowa City/Coralville area. The move is expected to happen in 2025.
With plans to vacate the facility in Kalona, this means that the 43,000 square foot building located on 1st Street will eventually be up for sale. While the move is over one year away, it could also mean a negative effect on the business community if there is a significant gap between ownership.
CIVCO Medical Solutions was founded in 1981, and employs over 100 people between their corporate headquarters and production facility. Layoffs are not expected at either site when the moving process begins.
