Another week of high school soccer gets underway with games throughout the area tonight. The Washington Demon girls will be looking to continue an unbeaten start to the season when they host Oskaloosa. Washington has won a pair of low-scoring battles to kick off the new season, with junior Audrey Anderson’s two goals providing half of the Demons’ scoring. New starting goalkeeper Aleigha Medley has settled in nicely behind a sturdy Washington defense, allowing just one goal on seven shots faced. The Demons will face an Oskaloosa squad opening their season this afternoon starting at 4:30.

The Columbus Wildcats will be looking to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat to Washington that they suffered after winning their season opener by the same score. Junior keeper Alynna Leos has already picked up 16 saves for the Wildcats and will look to help Columbus finally beat Mount Pleasant, which hosts the ‘Cats this afternoon at 4:30 and has won the last eight meetings.

The Columbus boys also visit Mount Pleasant later tonight, trying to avoid an 0-3 start to the season. The Wildcats are also looking to score their first goal of the new campaign. Area boys’ teams will collide this afternoon in Riverside when Sigourney-Keota visits Highland. While the Huskies look to respond to a season-opening loss to Washington, SK is looking for back-to-back victories, as goals from three freshmen helped knock off Central Lee last week and evened the team’s record at 1-1.
