Last weekend, the Lone Tree Community School District’s Board of Education announced three candidates to be interviewed for their superintendent vacancy. They are Kevin Seney of Grinnell, Dr. Lisa Stevenson of Bettendorf, and Tyler Hotz of Washington.
Seney has served as the High School Principal for the Grinnell-Newburg Community School district for the last 15 years. He began his career in education as a social studies teacher in Seymour, and also spent several years in the Chariton Community School District as principal, assistant principal, and athletic director.
Stevenson is the Secondary School Principal and Director of Special Education in the Columbus Community School District. She previously spent six years as Director of Instruction for Davenport and Marshalltown. Stevenson had also served as a PK-5 principal in Bettendorf, as well as a variety of roles at West Liberty, including Early Learning Center Principal, Curriculum Director, and ESL/Dual Language Coordinator.
Hotz has spent the entirety of his career in southeast Iowa, beginning as a high school math teacher at Pekin for four years. He then moved to Columbus Community School District where he served as the 6-12 Principal and activities director. Hotz is currently the High School Assistant Principal and Activities Director for the Mid-Prairie Community School District.
The candidates will be interviewed on Wednesday, April 5, with a selection expected following the interviews. Lone Tree Community School District has been assisted in the process by search firm, McPherson & Jacobson, LLC.
