Just before 2a.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for portions of Washington, Louisa, Johnson and Muscatine Counties until 2:30a.m. The radar indicated threats with this storm included, inch in diameter hail and 60mph winds. Hail one inch in diameter was reported by a trained weather spotter in University Heights in Johnson County. The cities of Washington and Ainsworth recorded wind gusts up to 35mph with a quarter inch of rainfall in both locations. Riverside received a half inch of precipitation and Lone Tree three quarters of an inch of rain. Two members of the KCII Severe Weather Action Team provided coverage live on-air. Had the power gone out, live coverage would have continued with our backup generators.
