The Mid-Prairie girls are 1-0 on the year after opening the season Monday with a 3-2 win over West Liberty behind two Amara Jones goals, one from Sophie Baker, a Meadow Flynn assist and nine saves in goal for Kina Miller. Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union is 1-2 on the year with a win over West Liberty 2-0 and losses to Washington 2-0 and Mt. Pleasant 7-0. The Wildcats have one goal each from Dahlia Valdez and Lecet Quiroz, an assist from Alexa Alcala and 16 saves for Alynna Leos. These teams have met 13 times with Mid-Prairie winning all contests including a 9-1 victory a season ago.
The Golden Hawk boys are 0-2 entering play tonight after losses to Williamsburg and West Liberty to open the season last week by a combined 16-1 score. Noah Ford has Mid-Prairie’s lone goal through two matches. Joe Hall has made 10 saves in goal. Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union is 0-3 this year. The Wildcats have been outscored 20-0 through contests against Mount Pleasant, Washington and West Liberty.
