Following a hearing last week, Judge Shawn Showers denied a motion Monday to suppress certain evidence against one of two teens accused of killing Fairfield Spanish teacher, Nohema Graber. This was the second such motion made by the defense team for Willard Miller, one of the defendants in the case.
Miller’s defense team had previously argued that the search warrant executed at his home was done unlawfully, and that Miller gave information to law enforcement without access to an attorney. Similar arguments were made on behalf of Jeremy Goodale, Miller’s co-defendant. It was recently revealed that Goodale is listed as a witness in Miller’s trial, and is preparing to testify against him.
Miller and Goodale are both being charged as adults with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the November 2021 crime. With the most recent motion turned down, Miller’s trial is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, April 21 in Council Bluffs. Goodale’s trial is set for Monday, May 15 in Davenport.
