Washington Demon golf continued its dominant start to the season by again winning both team competitions against their Southeast Conference rivals yesterday. The Washington boys cruised to victory in Fort Madison, as their team score of 187 strokes was 26 better than second-place Fairfield. Demon freshman Rajan Roth again was the meet medalist, firing a three-under 33. Junior teammate Roman Roth also hit red numbers with a 34, and freshman Drew Conrad was two strokes behind that pace at even par. Junior Luke Beenblossom was only three over at 39 and tied for fourth individually, and senior Teague Meyer and junior Isaac Vetter both shot 45 to ensure Washington was the only team at the meet with no players who shot 50 or higher.
The Washington girls kept on rolling as well, finishing 36 strokes clear of second-place Keokuk with a team score of 165 at Fairfield. Senior Makenna Conrad picked up her third straight top-two finish, shooting a three-over 39. Classmate Kaylin Long was only one stroke behind, while Demon senior Mallary Johnson fired a 42 and freshman Adalyn Long finished with a 44. Junior Maci Williams’ 52 and senior Haley Mitchell’s 53 rounded out the Washington win. Both Demon golf teams return to the course on Monday.
