Lone Tree took their track and field teams to the West Branch Invitational Thursday, and the day was particularly fruitful for the Lion girls, who finished third in the team scoring. Senior Riley Krueger was Lone Tree’s lone winner, clearing four feet eight inches to claim the high jump title. Freshman teammate Alyson Ford was only two inches behind in third place, while Krueger was a runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles and freshman Ava Christofferson finished second in the 200-meter dash.

Sophomore Hayden Yoder was third in both the discus toss and shot put, while classmates Rylee Shield, Alex Dautremont and Sami Branson were fourth in the 800, the discus and the shot, respectively. In team races, Christofferson and Shield joined Vivian Zaruba and Avery Morarie to take second in both the 800-meter sprint medley and the distance medley. Zaruba, Christofferson, Shield and Krueger made up the four-by-100 relay team that finished third, and Lone Tree’s 4-by-400 and shuttle hurdles relays also took third place.

On the boys’ side, the top result for the Lions belonged to junior Jader Sanchez, who was second in the long jump. The team of Tyce Ault, Andrew Gauley, Ethan Bockelman and Dom Garcia was runner-up in the 4-by-400, while Gauley, Sanchez, Ethan Willoz and Harry Brenneman took third in the shuttle hurdles. Lone Tree will have a chance to show what they can do on their home track when they host the Mike Kautz Invitational Monday.
