Two Southeast Iowa Super Conference track & field teams put up some strong results at Thursday’s Demon Relays in Washington. The WACO Warriors got another solid day from Simeon Reichenbach, as the senior finished third in the 110-meter hurdles and was fourth in the long jump. Reichenbach also ran a leg on two fourth-place relay teams, joining sophomore Louden Huisenga and fellow seniors Mason Miller and Isaac Oswald in the shuttle hurdles and teaming with Oswald, Miller and Braden Spain in the four-by-100 meters.
Miller also finished third in the high jump, while WACO junior Chase Waterhouse was fourth in the discus toss. Oswald and Spain ran with junior Brian Neal and sophomore Clayton Miller to take fourth in the 4-by-200. The best finish for the Warrior girls came from junior Zoey Dennler, who was third in the 400-meter hurdles.
The Highland girls were led by another great performance from Sarah Burton. The junior won the long jump championship with a top leap of 16 feet 11 inches. Burton was also fourth in the 200 meters. The best relay finish for the Huskies was in the shuttle hurdles, where senior Adelynn Kleopfer joined freshmen Emma Cole, Brena Hazelett and Mackenzie Davis to take fourth place. Both Highland and WACO will return to the track later today at the Mike Kautz Invitational in Lone Tree.
