The Lone Tree Community School District announced Monday that they have chosen a new Superintendent. Following their final round of interviews on Wednesday, April 5, the district made an offer to Mid-Prairie Assistant Principal and Activities Director, Tyler Hotz.
Hotz began his career in education as a high school math teacher at Pekin. He then went on to Columbus Community School District to serve as the 6-12 principal and activities director before his current position at Mid-Prairie. Hotz attended the University of Northern Iowa, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in 2010, Master’s Degree in Educational Administration in 2015, and Advanced Studies Certificate for superintendent licensure in 2021. He is also a Lone Tree grad.
Upon hearing the news that he had been selected, Hotz tells KCII, “Having come from Lone Tree and graduating there in 2006, the opportunity to go and give back to a place that gave so much to me is just a really exciting feeling. Lone Tree is a great place. I think there’s a lot of positivity in that district and it looks like it’s a place that’s going to grow.” Hotz begins as the Superintendent on July 1.
The Lone Tree Community School District was assisted in the search by consulting firm, McPherson & Jacobson LLC. The firm will continue to work with the board of education, as well as Hotz to establish his performance objectives.
