The Washington County Board of Supervisors held a special listening session for Washington County residents on Tuesday night. The session was to discuss the possibility of moving some county services to the Orchard Hill complex and to get more information about what that move entails. With around fifty citizens and four of five County Supervisors in attendance, there were plenty of discussions. Supervisor Stan Stoops had this to say on the subject,    “Look at the people that are here tonight; look at what’s going on here. It has to do with what your constituents want, that’s what it’s got to do with. We are instruments that are put in office to do what the people want, and the people want something, and we can do this. We can make it work, we’ll have to put our heads together to make it work. It can happen, and we would be doing the right thing.” Many members of the public were able to ask their questions and were able to get a response from the Supervisors directly. Many issues were discussed, including the use of the amount of money that the move and renovations would cost, not purchasing and utilizing the Federation Bank building, and not listening to the county employees. After a nearly two-hour session, the meeting ended with answered questions and some more deliberations to be had by the Supervisors.
