Last week, the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association released their first boy’s soccer poll for the 2023 season. The Hillcrest Academy Ravens check in at No. 9 in Class 1A. Hillcrest is off to a 2-0 start with wins over Cedar Valley Christian and Wapello by a combined 13-1 score. Eight different Ravens have goals this year with Grant Bender leading the way at four goals. Seth Ours has three with Jesse Blossom, Rowan Miller, Isaac Lybeck, Owen Scott, Bryce Bailey and Mason Bender all with one each. Rowan Miller has the team lead with two assists. Grant Bender, Ours, Lybeck, Mason Bender and Lincoln Miller each have one. Kyle Neuschwander has been in goal for both wins to start the year and has one clean sheet. Hillcrest Academy is back on the pitch Tuesday in Kalona to take on Central Lee.
