A trio of area girls’ track and field teams did some impressive work at meets on Thursday. The Sigourney Savages had just one winner at Lynnville-Sully in sophomore Josephine Moore, who was the shot put champion with a top toss of 32 feet three-and-a-half inches. But they piled up plenty of top results, including runner-up finishes from junior Amiya Smallwod in the 200-meter dash; junior Carly Goodwin in the 400 meters; sophomore McKinley Chittick in the high jump; sophomore Macy Fisch in the shot put; and junior Mason Clarahan in the 100 and 400-meter hurdles.

Sigourney’s third place finishers featured Moore in the discus; freshman Addison Yates in the 3,000; and junior Erin Dawson in the 100 hurdles. The Savages also got fourth-place finishes from Dawson in the high jump and junior Ava Fineran in the 1,500, while they were second in the four-by-200-meter relay and both medley races.

The Highland Huskies got another strong day from Sarah Burton at the Lisbon Invitational, as the junior was runner-up in the 100 and the long jump. Highland’s 4-by-200-relay team was also second, while the Huskies’ shuttle hurdles squad came in third. The Keota Eagles were fourth in the 4-by-100 and the sprint medley races at the Horton Relays in Pekin.
