The Sigourney Savages came up just short in a pair of South Iowa Cedar League golf matchups Thursday at Sigourney Golf Club. The Sigourney boys were only a single stroke away from tying Montezuma after they posted a team score of 159. Savage senior Clay Morse was the meet medalist with a top individual round of one-under-par 35. Freshman Solon Yates was third with a 37, while sophomore Isaac Bruns shot 43 and freshman Josh Wyatt and junior Brock Alderson fired rounds of 44 and 45, respectively.

The Sigourney girls put up a team score of 237. Senior Zoe Webb had the Savages’ top round of 49, while classmate Rain Barthelman shot 58. Both Sigourney golf teams are right back on the course later today when they visit Lynnville-Sully.
