The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk track teams will be under the lights tonight. The Golden Hawk boys host their only home track meet of the year. Mid-Prairie is fresh off of a big day at the Eastern Iowa Track and Field Festival Saturday at Iowa City West where they posted seven top five finishes. Jayden Stafford won triple gold for the Hawks. He took the wheel chair 100, 200 and 400 race championships. Jayse Yoder finished third in the 800. Cain Brown was third in the high jump, fourth in the 400 hurdles and fourth in long jump. Emmett Swartzentruber placed fifth in the two-mile. The Hawks will be joined tonight by Anamosa, Eddyville-Blakesburg, Grinnell, Oskaloosa, Prairie City Monroe, West Liberty and Wilton. Action starts with field events at 4:15 and continues into the evening at Dwight G. Sattler Field in Wellman.
The Mid-Prairie girls are in Tipton tonight. The Hawks sent one event to Iowa City West Saturday and saw the sprint medley team of Madeline Schrader, Amara Jones, and Jovi and Tabitha Evans place third. In their last full team meet, the Hawks were runaway champs at Tipton last Thursday, putting up an impressive 196 points to win the Tigerette Relays. Mid-Prairie won eight event championships at Tipton including Danielle Hostetler going double gold in the 800 and 1500. Tabitha Evans was the 400 winner. Ella Groenewold won high jump gold and Sophia Schwartz was long jump champ. In relay events, the Mid-Prairie sprint medley team of Madeline Schrader, Dakota Mitchell, Jovi Evans, and Greta Sieren beat the field. The 4×100 team of Schrader, Amara Jones, Jovi and Tabitha Evans were winners, the 4×200 team of Schrader, Jones, Evans and Mitchell were champs and the distance medley of Schrader, Jones, Sieren and Hostetler were best. The Hawks will be joined in Tipton tonight by Bellevue, Calamus-Wheatland, Camanche, Center Point Urbana, Maquoketa, Maquoketa Valley, Bellevue Marquette Catholic, North Linn, Northeast Goose Lake, West Branch, West Delaware and the home Tigers. Action starts at 4:30p.m. with field events and continues into the evening at Tipton City Park.
