A trio of area boys golf teams are at Durant Tuesday for the Wildcat Invitational. This is the first tournament for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys in a week. Last Tuesday, they finished fifth of 10 schools at their home, Golden Hawk 18-hole Invitational, with a team score 358. They were led by Aiden Bush in sixth place with an 86. For the year, Mid-Prairie has a nine hole average of 172, led by Bryce Henry’s 42.
Winfield-Mt. Union will be at Wahkonsa tonight. The Wolves dropped a Southeast Iowa Superconference dual to Wapello at Heritage Oaks in Morning Sun Thursday 178-182. Top WMU card came from medalist Carter Loyd with a 39. For the season, The Wolves shoot 184 per nine holes, led by Loyd’s 42 average.
Columbus will join the group at Durant Tuesday. The Wildcats played last on April 6th where they were a 224-236 winner over Lone Tree at Cedar Crest Country Club, with a medalist round 47 from Grant Watson to lead the way. On the season, Columbus has a 229 average per nine holes with Watson’s 47 average best on the team.
Joining those three today are Louisa-Muscatine, North Cedar, Tipton, West Branch, West Liberty and Wilton. Action begins at noon and continues this afternoon and evening at Wakhonsa Country Club in Durant.
