The Sigourney Savages earned a boys’ golf victory over Lynnville-Sully Monday at Diamond Trail Golf Club in Lynnville. The Savages’ team score of 174 was 16 strokes better than the Eagles, with senior Clay Morse again leading the way by shooting a medalist round of three-over-par 39. Junior Brock Alderson was the runner-up after a round of 44, while sophomore Cain Weber was a stroke behind in a tie for third. Freshmen Solon Yates and Josh Wyatt shot 46 and 49, respectively, and sophomore Issac Bruns fired a 50.
While there was no team competition, the Sigourney girls did take to the course and were paced by a round of 56 from senior Zoe Webb. Junior Emma Haines was the girls’ runner-up at 63. Both Savage teams will hit the links again tomorrow, with the boys visiting Iowa Valley and the girls going to the Oskaloosa Invitational.
