The Washington Demon girls’ track and field team put together another strong outing Tuesday, finishing third in the team scoring in Class A at the Panther Relays in Mount Pleasant. Though no individual was a winner, Washington’s team of senior Grace Voss, freshman Iris Dahl and sophomores Lauren Horak and Kendall Hinrichsen was the winner of the four-by-800-meter relay, posting a top time of 10 minutes 22.45 seconds.

Horak was a runner-up in the 1,500-meter run, as was classmate Eden Levetzow in the 400 meters and freshman Leighton Messinger in the 100-meter hurdles. Sophomore Quincy Griffis took third place in the 3,000 meters, while junior Emery Walton and senior Ally Rees were fourth in the 100 and the discus toss, respectively. The Demons were also second in the shuttle hurdles relay and third in the 4-by-400, a solid effort ahead of hosting the annual Washington Invitational later today.

Winfield-Mount Union and WACO had good results at Mount Pleasant as well. Wolves senior Keetyn Townsley was the Class B champion in the 100 hurdles, finishing in 17.29 seconds, and she ran a leg on WMU’s winning shuttle hurdles relay team that ran a time of 1:14. Sophomore Elyssa Graber had the Warriors’ best finish after coming in third in the 800.

Junior Tessa Huston was third in the 400 hurdles for WMU, which also had third-place finishes in the 4-by-100 and 4-by-200. Sophomore Ally Rinner was fourth in the 100 hurdles for WACO, which took third in the shuttle hurdles relay and fourth in the distance medley.

Highland junior Sarah Burton also competed at the Panther Relays and won the long jump in Class B, posting a top leap of 16 feet three inches. The Huskies will join WACO and many other area teams at the annual Pankoke Relays today at Winfield-Mount Union.
