The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk and Hillcrest Academy Raven soccer programs both see action tonight. The Mid-Prairie boys and girls hit the road for Anamosa. The Golden Hawk girls are 5-2 after a 7-0 loss to No. 6 Solon on the road Thursday. For the season, Mid-Prairie has outscored their opponents 23-14. Individual leaders include this week’s KCII JET Physical Therapy Athlete of the Week Sophie Baker with seven goals and Kina Miller with five assists and 47 saves. The Anamosa girls are 4-1 this season, they got by Tipton Monday 4-3. For the season, they have outscored their opponents 13-10. Individual leaders for the Blue Raiders include Chloe Breitbach with six goals and four assists. Leah Witson has made 65 saves. The Hawks have won all three meetings in this series including a 5-3 victory in Wellman last year.
The Mid-Prairie boys come into Friday with a 3-4 mark after a 4-1 loss in Wellman to West Branch Monday. They have been outscored 26-14 on the season. Tucker Miller has a team best three goals. Miller, Owen Trimpe, Noah Ford, Beau Flynn, Grady Miller and Jacob Flynn all have one assist. Joe Hall has made 20 saves in goal. Anamosa is 1-4 on the season. The Blue Raiders were beaten by Tipton Monday 7-0. They have been outscored this year 34-1. Griffin Embree has their lone goal and keeper Coy Braden has made 95 saves. Mid-Prairie has swept the all-time series 3-0 including a 10-0 mercy rule win in Wellman last season. Action in the Mid-Prairie doubleheader starts with the girls at 5p.m. and the boys to follow Friday at Downing Field in Anamosa.
The Hillcrest Ravens are back on their home pitch in Kalona tonight when they welcome the Danville Bears for a Southeast Iowa Superconference contest. The Ravens are 3-1 after their first setback of the year Thursday at Columbus 1-0. The Ravens have outscored their opponents this year 15-3. Grant Bender leads the way with four goals, Rowan Miller has a team best three assists and Kyle Neuschwander has made 10 saves in goal. Danville is 0-1 on the season with a 2-1 loss to Columbus. Talan Whaley has the lone Danville goal and Jacob Miller their only assist. Aiden Konig has made five saves. The Ravens have beat the Bears the last two seasons including a 5-1 win in 2022. Tonight is family night at Hillcrest Academy and the Ravens will honor their 1997 state championship team. Action begins at 5p.m. in Kalona.
