On a cold, blustery day in Kalona, it was the Danville Bears that came away with a pair of big plays late to stun No. 15 in Class 1A Hillcrest Academy on their own pitch 2-1. The Ravens got the home crowd into the match in a hurry, posting a goal in the game’s first 30 seconds when Owen Scott connected with Micah Gerber who found the back of the net. Things still stood at 1-0 at intermission. In the 68th minute, Danville struck with the equalizer. With five minutes remaining the Bears took the lead on a late tally that proved to be the difference. The Ravens had eight shots on goal and three corner kicks. Kyle Neuschwander made eight saves in goal. With the loss, Hillcrest falls to 3-2 with a trip to Highland tonight.
