A couple of Southeast Iowa Super Conference soccer teams were beaten late last week. Sigourney-Keota got the best of the WACO Warriors Thursday evening, as a scoreless match stayed that way even through double-overtime. SK would win the penalty-kick shootout and improve to 6-2 on the season. WACO’s third straight loss drops them to 2-4. The Warriors travel to Central Lee this evening.

The Highland Huskies also fell Thursday night at Danville 4-0. Two goals in each half, including a pair from junior Talan Whaley, put the Bears over the top. Highland is still winless and will try to avoid an 0-8 start when they host Hillcrest Academy later today.

Both Columbus Wildcat teams tried but came up short of spoiling senior night at Mediapolis Friday. The Columbus girls fell 3-1, trailing only by a goal at halftime but failing to secure back-to-back wins. The Wildcat boys were locked in a defensive struggle, but the Bulldogs ultimately triumphed 1-0. While the Columbus boys are now 3-6, the girls fall to 2-5. Both squads host Burlington Notre Dame tonight.
