The Washington Demon boys earned another conference soccer victory last night, defeating Mount Pleasant 5-1. The game was also another big performance from junior Manny Raymundo, as he set up the Demons’ first few goals with assists to freshman Edwin Cortes in the 15th minute; senior Fredy Aguilar in the 21st minute; and junior Lane Schrock in the 59th. Raymundo added a brace by scoring in the 69th and 75th minutes, bringing his totals to 13 goals and eight assists on the season. Washington improves to 4-2 in the Southeast Conference and 6-2 overall.
The Demon girls were not as lucky, falling 3-0 at Mount Pleasant. Washington yielded an early goal before seeing the deficit double in the 37th minute. The Panthers tacked on a late tally in the 72nd minute to secure their victory. The Demons fall to 3-3 in conference play but are 6-3 overall. Both Washington teams face Fort Madison in their next games Thursday.
