The Washington Demon girls’ golf team followed up a conference championship with runner-up honors at their second 18-hole tournament of the season yesterday. Washington was second in the team standings behind host Solon at this year’s Lady Spartan Invitational, posting a score of 341 strokes identical to the Spartans but not winning because of a tiebreaker.

Demon senior Makenna Conrad was the tournament’s individual champion, shooting a seven-over-par 79. Classmate Kaylin Long was three strokes behind her for fourth place, while freshman Adalyn Long was eighth with an 88. Senior Haley Mitchell finished in the top 20 by shooting 92, while junior Maci Williams finished with a 94 and senior Mallary Johnson posted a 98. Washington is off until Monday.
