The Washington Demons avoided a third straight loss in boys’ soccer by defeating Fairfield 5-1 yesterday. It took only a minute for the Demons to not only take the lead but also score multiple goals. Freshman Edwin Cortes put one in the back of the net in the opening minute, and junior Joshua Perez scored seconds later on a feed from classmate Manny Raymundo.
Raymundo would score as well in the 33rd and 51st minutes, while senior Fredy Aguilar capped the scoring in the 78th minute. After missing Saturday’s loss to Mediapolis with an injury, junior goalkeeper Will Gilchrist Brock returned to action and picked up eight saves. Washington improves to 5-3 in the Southeast Conference and 7-4 overall.
