The Washington County Board of Supervisors heard from Renella Crawford, HACAP of Washington County Operations Director, at their meeting on Tuesday. She gave a brief overview of the history of HACAP before asking the Board to designate May as Community Action Month in Washington County. “2023 marks the fifty-ninth year since the Community Action Network was established to help American families overcome obstacles to poverty. This year, HACAP, a proud member of the Community Action Network, will also commemorate fifty-eight years of helping families. Last year alone, our organization served seventy-five thousand individuals and over fifteen million nationwide through immediately needed services, such as shelter, food, heat, childcare, and long-term solutions such as education and job placement. This month, please join us in celebrating the impact of Community Action Agencies in our County and nationwide.” The Supervisors voted unanimously to approve the proclamation designating May as Community Action Month for Washington County.
