One swing. On a day filled with many, one stroke marked the margin of victory for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls golf team as they claimed the 2023 River Valley Conference championship at Muscatine Municipal Golf Course Wednesday. The Hawks posted a team score of 389, edging out Dyersville Beckman Catholic’s 390. All six Golden Hawks found their way onto All-RVC teams. Mid-Prairie was led by senior Kylie Reinier and her 93, to finish third overall for Elite All-Conference status. Sophomore Addison English was just behind her at 94 for fourth, also an Elite RVC selection. Other scores for the Hawks included juniors Gabi Robertson 100 and Madi Davidson 102, both All-River Valley selections and senior Alexa Huber 103 with junior Elliot Debler 108, both honorable mention All-RVC. After the meet, all six of the happy Hawks joined KCII sports to talk about the day and winning the title. “We didn’t really know for sure right away if we had won. Nobody really thought that we did as good as what we could have. So none of us were expecting it. We kind of knew around what we got, but we weren’t sure how we were going to place. We didn’t know what the other teams had shot. It feels great!”
The conference championship is the first for the program and head coach Tracy McArtor since 2018. Mid-Prairie finishes the regular season Monday when they host Durant for a River Valley conference dual.
